Long Range Planning Committee


  1. Section 3-801 Structure

    1. The Long Range Planning Committee shall be constituted as follows:

      1. Elected members shall be comprised of representatives elected to four-year terms by the faculties of the respective colleges and schools:

        1. One representative elected by the faculty of the College of Business,

        2. One representative elected by the faculty of the College of Engineering,

        3. One representative elected by the faculty of the College of Liberal Arts,

        4. One representative elected by the faculty of the College of Science,

        5. One representative elected by the faculty of the School of Architecture,

        6. One representative elected by the faculty of the School of Nursing,

        7. One representative elected by the faculty of the School of Social Work,

        8. One representative elected by the faculty of the School of Urban and Public Affairs,

        9. One representative elected by the faculty of the School of Education,

        10. One representative elected by the Graduate School;

        11. One representative from the faculty of each undergraduate college appointed by the President for four-year terms; and as

        12. Ex-officio members without vote:

          1. the Provost,

          2. the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration,

          3. the Vice President for undergraduate Academic and Student Affairs, and

          4. the U.T. System Chancellor or his/her delegate.

    2. Elections and Appointments

      1. Elections and appointments shall be scheduled in such a manner that one elected member and one appointed member shall be chosen each year.

      2. The order of election by colleges shall be:

        1. Engineering,

        2. Liberal Arts,

        3. Science, and

        4. Business.

      3. The order of appointment by colleges shall be:

        1. Science,

        2. Business,

        3. Engineering, and

        4. Liberal Arts.

      4. Members shall serve four-year terms and shall be eligible for reelection or reappointment.

      5. A chair shall be elected by the committee from the membership each year and shall be eligible for reelection as chair.

  2. Section 3-802 Responsibilities

    1. To serve as an Institutional Building Advisory Committee as prescribed by Regents' Rules and Regulations, Rule 80302.

    2. Conduct studies to determine the long range program and faculty needs of the University.

    3. Recommend an order of priority for building new facilities. This priority order shall be reviewed at least once annually by the committee members and a new order of priority recommended (or the old reaffirmed).

    4. Review preliminary applications for all proposed academic programs to determine probable costs. Make recommendation to the President and Undergraduate Assembly and/or Graduate Assembly as appropriate concerning priority and starting dates for all proposed academic programs based upon the ability of the University to finance such programs.

    5. Make recommendations to the President and Undergraduate Assembly and/or Graduate Assembly as appropriate for facilities or academic programs.

    6. Hold necessary hearings and make proper investigations to translate the approved academic program into priorities for new construction, with suggestions as to total project area and function, and make such recommendations to the institutional head.

    7. Shall be relieved of further direct responsibility whenever a building contract is awarded, but shall be available for consultation as the building progresses, as requested by the institutional head, the U.T. System Chancellor, or his/her delegate, and the project architect.
