The UT Arlington Human Resources Procedures represents a codification and an explanation of those rules, regulations and guidelines which pertain to employment and working conditions at The University of Texas at Arlington. Many of these policies cover both faculty and staff. Others may apply only to staff or some other group. In most cases, there is an applicability statement in the policy describing which employees are covered. There are additional faculty policies which are beyond the scope of this section and are issued in other publications.
The various policies included in this section are derived generally from enactments of the State Legislature, regulations established by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, and applicable Federal Legislation.
The responsibilities of the Office of Human Resources include (1) consistent and equitable interpretation and application of Human Resources policies and prompt recognition of the need to revise them when indicated by the operating needs of the institution, (2) definition and classification of classes of positions, (3) establishment of pay ranges for the various classes of positions in such a manner as to establish and maintain correct internal job and salary relationships, (4) adequate and effective recruitment and screening of personnel, (5) effective employee relations, including the processing of employee grievances, (6) administration of employee benefits, (7) development and presentation of employee training programs, and (8) ensuring adherence to controlling personnel policies mandated by the State Legislature and the Board of Regents. To these ends, the Human Resources Section of the UT Arlington Procedures has been issued as a guideline for management and employee alike.
Recognizing the necessity for amendment of these procedures and regulations when the operating needs of the University and/or the law require such action, The University of Texas at Arlington reserves the right to modify the UT Arlington Human Resources Procedures without prior notification to employees.
