UTA’s growing success as an institution of the highest caliber is based on the strong partnerships we have with school districts. One of our strongest partnerships is with the Mansfield Independent School District and it was a tremendous honor to present the Board at its recent meeting with a UTA Banner. Additional banners were provided so that one could be displayed at each of MISD’s 43 schools – continually reminding students of the local R-1 University which is growing as the institution of first choice. These banners are not just a representation of UTA but they show our commitment as a true partner with MISD in the education of our students, enabling them to spread their wings, soar and fly – achieving goals that many may have thought impossible.
Last year almost 1,100 students, including 150 new freshman, came to UTA from MISD schools. UTA has a strong partnership with MISD including involvement in the Bound for Success program and we look forward to building on this in the months and years to come.
UTA alums make a tremendous impact in their communities and this was evident at the MISD board meeting. Both the outgoing Board Chair, Dr. Michael Evans (who will continue serving as a trustee) and the incoming Board Chair, Mr. Raul Gonzalez, are UTA alums as are Board Members Daniel Gallagher, Karen Marcucci and Michelle Newsom. In addition about 37 MISD principals and administrators are UTA alums as are a large number of teachers and staff. I am extremely proud of each of them and of the impact they are having through the education of our youth.
