We can justifiably feel proud of the successes and plaudits earned by the University and its faculty, staff and students over the past year – our R-1 designation, record enrollments, increasing national rankings for our academic programs, tremendous research accomplishments, and the success of our student-athletes on and off the field of play. The effect of these successes and our growing reputation for excellence is seen in the increased attractiveness of UTA to students in high schools and 2-year colleges considering the next steps in their education.
I had the privilege to speaking to over 500 students and parents this Saturday at the first of many “Maverick Experience” events that will be held on campus throughout this school year to provide opportunities for potential students to learn more about our amazing institution and help them in making an important decision for their futures.
I was thrilled to hear many potential students and their parents say that “UTA is my first choice” and that they were drawn to UTA by the excellence and rigor of our academic programs as well as by the overall student experience and the growing excitement about our trajectory toward even greater levels of excellence. There was pride in the voices of our alums as they brought their children back to their alma mater hoping to convince them to attend UTA. We are building legacies – that speaks volumes. We will continue having these events through the year and I encourage our faculty, staff and alumni to join in to assist Dara Newton (firstname.lastname@example.org) and her staff in creating an exciting atmosphere and help her show not only all that we have to offer but that UTA is the very best.
Let’s put our best foot forward, showcase our excellence and ensure that recruitment becomes something that we are all involved in – if the ivies can do this so can we. Let’s go Mavs! I look forward to seeing faculty, chairs, Deans and alumni involved in the events yet to come!
