A Message from the President

Dear Members of the Maverick family,

Yesterday's announcement by the federal administration rescinding the previous executive order regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) has undoubtedly raised many questions which we hope will be addressed with DACA being upheld and continued by our leaders in Congress.

As an institution of higher education, we are committed to the highest standards of academic excellence and ensuring that we provide an environment that is conducive to the development and dissemination of knowledge. At the University of Texas at Arlington, we are committed to maintaining an inclusive and collaborative environment in which students, faculty and staff from across our great state, our nation and from across the globe are able to gain from a transformative educational experience.

I want to assure all our students that as members of the Maverick family our goal is to enable you to complete the finest education possible to attain degrees and fulfill the dreams and hopes you had when you joined us. We will do everything we can, within the law, to enable you to earn a great education that will have a transformative impact on you, your family and our community.

We understand that many of you have questions following the DACA announcement. As Congress has been given a directive to propose a plan, we will continue to monitor the situation and reach out to you as information becomes available.
