Areas of Research:

Aside from teaching at UT Arlington, I also currently work as a Research Nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas at the Institute for Exercise and Environmental Medicine. I work in the Cerebrovascular Lab, under Rong Zhang, PhD, where the primary focus of the studies I am involved in are on the aging brain, and the impact of exercise on Mild Cognitive Impairment.

Nursing Background:

The majority of my nursing background/experience is in Critical Care. I have experience working in several critical care units including the Cardiovascular ICU, Medical/Surgical ICU, and Coronary Care Unit. I have worked in a variety of roles in the Intensive Care Unit including experience as a Staff Nurse, Preceptor, Charge Nurse, ICU Unit Board Secretary, and most recently as an Agency/Travel nurse.

NURS 1300 - Introduction to Professional Nursing
This course is "designed to introduce and trasition the freshman and transfer pre-nursing student to the language of nursing, critical thinking, the essential academic skills for incoming students and the interpersonal skills required for success in nursing school and the nursing profession.  Selected topics and processes for professional nursing will be included in the course, including an introduction to nursing's theoretical, philosophical, ethical, and legal dimensions". *Course Description from FS NURS 1300 Fall 2011 Syllabus
