International Faculty Exchanges

UT Arlington is looking to grow its international faculty exchanges as part of its 2020 Stratgic Plan Bold Solutions, Global Impact (http://www.uta.edu/strategicplan/).  The Division of Faculty Affairs seeks to support faculty in developing international exchange opportunities by keeping an updated list of opportunities and resources.

Fullbright Scholars Program

For faculty seeking a shorter commitment than a Fulbright normally funds, the Fulbright Specialist Program offers short-term (2-6 weeks) collaborative projects in over 140 countries and 24 academic disciplines.  Applications are accepted every 2-3 months and the program pays for airfare and living expenses. For 2015-2016, a $10,000 salary supplement is available in a number of countries for teaching and eligible teaching/research awards. - See more at: http://www.cies.org/faq/faqs-core-fulbright-scholar-program#12 http://www.cies.org/program/fulbright-specialist-program

Obama 100,000 Strong in the Americas Program

Funded through the U.S. State Department, private industry and private foundations, this initiative seeks to create an exchange of 100,000 students and faculty across the western hemisphere. Four request for proposals from higher education institutions have been funded for $25,000 each. The fifth competition is due October 31, 2014. Below is the latest call. 100K Strong in the Americans RFP #5

The 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund will be announcing another round of grant competitions on September 15.  This round is being funded by a generous contribution from the Coca-Cola Foundation. The theme for the round will be:Promoting Study Abroad in Health and Nutrition with a focus on programs that positively address challenges of obesity and that emphasize the importance of physical activity. Higher Education Institutions in the United States and Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and/or Venezuela are eligible to compete.

Please visit http://www.100kstrongamericas.org/educate and click on the “Apply for a Grant” button on September 15 for more information.  The announcement will be posted at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.  The round will be closing on October 31, 2014 with an announcement in mid-December of the winners.

Round #1 Deadline: Nov 8, 2013. Sponsor: Ford Foundation and US Dept. of State.  Capacity Building Program to Reach 100K Strong.  Open to institutions of higher education in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama and Peru.

Round #2  Deadline Nov 8, 2013.  Sponsor: Santander Bank. STEM and Sustainable Development. Educational Institutions in U.S. Chile and Peru. All higher education institutions in the western hemisphere.

Round #3 Deadline April 1, 2014. Promoting Study Abroad Partnerships for Innovation and Collaboration. Higher education institution in the Western Hemisphere

Round #4  Deadline July 28, supported by Exxon. Study in engineering, physics, geology, geophysics. Institutions in: U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and/or Mexico.

Round #5. Deadline October 31, 2014. Supported by Coca Cola Foundation. Promoting study abroad in health and nutrition. Open to institutions in U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela.
