Student Organization Advisors Needed

The Department of Student Activities and Organizations seeks faculty members who have an interest in sharing their expertise and mentorship by advising a registered student organization. New groups are continually being formed by students and they are required to have an on-campus advisor.  For more information on the responsibilities of an organizational advisor and how to sign-up visit

Team based Learning Interest Group

Team Based Learning (TBL) is a structured form of collaborative learning used to promote student learning, accountability, and motivation. It works in large as well as small classes and has a nationwide network of faculty who develop resources and provide support. We have a TBL Special Interest Group here on campus, where faculty interested in TBL meet regularly to discuss how it works in their classes. If you're interested in joining, contact Nakia at To learn more about TBL, check out the Team Based Learning Collaborative Website.

Sign ups continue to become a certified peer observer. To learn more about the new Peer Observation policy, visit Faculty Peer Observation of Teaching. To sign up for a training session, visit the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence website. Questions about the policy and its implementation can be directed to Nakia Pope, CTLE Director.

We have guest apartments on campus? If you're hosting a job candidate, visiting lecturer, or other guest, you can house them in the Lofts at College Park or Meadow Run apartments. For more information, including how to make a reservation, check out the Guest Apartments website.

Post Scriptum

Dear esteemed colleagues,

As my tenure at UT Arlington draws to a close, I wanted to express my appreciation more than 21 years of wonderfully collegial relationships with so many of you. I look forward to watching UTA grow in stature and reputation, thanks in no small part to the tremendous work you do as scholars, as teachers, as mentors, and as committed community members. With deepest respect and gratitude,

-David Silva
