New Professional Development ResourceS for Faculty: NCFDD

We are pleased to announce that UT Arlington has become an institutional member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). Through our institutional membership in the NCFDD, faculty members (as well as GTAs) should have access to the various recourses on the NCFDD website, including a weekly "Monday Motivator," which many of you may have received on Sunday, January 19th. In the next few weeks, you should receive a message directly from the NCFDD with instructions on how you can set up an account. In the meantime, be sure to explore the NCFDD's website to get a sense what they have on offer; also be on the lookout for e-mail from "," including next week's "Monday Motivator."

Have you Posted your Course Syllabus on Mentis?

Please remember that HB 2504 requires that all faculty post a syllabus in a centrally-administered database that allows public search and access. At UT Arlington, the official repository for all course syllabus information is the Faculty Profile system within Mentis (HOP ADM 6-500). For more information about posting your syllabus to your profile, visit the News and Quick Links page on the Provost's website.

  • (Re-)familiarize yourself with pertinent course policies
  • Prepare a course syllabus using the university template as a guide
  • Post a syllabus for each course to your Faculty Profile in the Mentis System

Final Call for Proposals: "DAY ONE" Workshop (Deadline: February 1, 2014)

UT Arlington's  Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence will be sponsoring a "Day One" Workshop on March 28 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. We are soliciting proposals for presentations of activities that are appropriate for the first day of class. Workshop attendees will participate in these fifteen-minute hands-on demonstrations. Activities should be short enough for participants to have a simulated student experience within fifteen minutes. Send your proposal to both Lana Rings ( and Mary Lynn Crow ( by February 1, with subject "Day One."

Did you know that ...

... The University Club (located in the basement of Davis Hall) has a "frequent diner" card? According to the card, "buy six meals and get the seventh free." You can obtain a card from a member of the Club's staff during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
