The Pitch Prep Workshop: How Entrepreneurs Present Ideas | March 29 and April 4, 2022

RSVP on Startup Tree to attend a 90-minute workshop that will teach you how to present your idea to potential customers, investors, and partners. The workshop will be offered twice, Tuesday, March 29 and Monday, April 4 in person at UTA's Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation. Limited seating is available. We encourage you to attend if you are a student interested in entrepreneurship or a young entrepreneur who would like to improve your pitching abilities. 


In this workshop, you will: 

  • P: Practice your pitch.
  • I: Improve your ability to communicate ideas more effectively.
  • T: Tell a story with the awareness of time.
  • C: Create a pitch that will attract customers, investors, and partners.
  • H: Hone the fundamentals needed to develop and deliver a great pitch.
The LaunchPad Entrepreneurial Mindset Bootcamp | Extended Deadline: March 27, 2022

The Entrepreneurial Mindset Bootcamp is a four-week, virtual boot camp to help undergraduate students learn an entrepreneurial approach to work and life. This boot camp is for students who want to start their own businesses and those who want to cultivate entrepreneurial skills needed for the modern workforce. This event is open to all undergraduate students in the Blackstone LaunchPad Network. Check out this video to learn more. Seats are limited and participation is competitive. Students will be notified by March 31 if they have been selected to participate.

Bridge Venture Fellowship (Spring 2022)

The Bridge Venture Fellowship is a 3-week paid learning opportunity for historically excluded* students to learn about venture capital and network with peers and industry professionals. The virtual bootcamp is open to 20 students across the UT System schools and culminates in an in-person recruitment mixer in Austin with Texas-based firms. The program is hosted by a coalition of LaunchPads at the ten UT System Schools in partnership with Capital Factory.

Students who participate in this Fellowship will gain: 

  • Knowledge about venture capital from experts and mentors
  • $400 stipend upon completion of the program 
  • Network of diverse peers from across the 10 UT schools, startup founders, and investors 
  • Free books, learning materials, and swag 
  • Paid trip to Austin for the culminating networking mixer and an opportunity to land a summer associate internship

This Fellowship is open to undergraduate and graduate students of any UT System school. All majors are eligible to apply, no finance or business background necessary. 

Applications are due Feb 27 and consist of an online application with the potential for a 15-min interview.

Virtual Sessions: Mar 22, Mar 24, Mar 29, Mar 31, Apr 5, Apr 7 (Tuesdays and Thursdays) 

Virtual Session Time: 12-1 PM (extended until 1:30 PM on Mar 29 & Apr 5)

Rice Business Plan Competition | April 7-9, 2022 | Deadline to compete is January 31, 2022

The competition, entering its 22nd year, gives collegiate entrepreneurs real-world experience to pitch their startups, enhance their business strategy and learn what it takes to launch a successful company. Hosted and organized by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship—which is Rice University's internationally-recognized initiative devoted to the support of entrepreneurship—and Rice Business. Over 20 years it has grown from nine teams competing for $10,000 in prize money in 2001, to 54 teams from around the world competing for more than $1.6 million in cash and prizes. For the first time in competition history, the 2021 event showcased 54 student-led startups.
