Mavs100 | Nominations are open for the May 2022 event

MAVS100 is designed to honor the 100 fastest growing Maverick-owned or Maverick-led businesses. Nominated companies are asked to provide high-level information about their company so that an independent firm can rank the nominees and identify the 100 fastest growing companies. Honorees are recognized each spring during an invitation only awards dinner. Visit the College of Business website to nominate a company.



Business Beyond the Battlefield: BBBVirtual | October 6-8, 2021

Hosted by UTA's Veterans Business Outreach Center, BBBVirtual is a three-day, virtual business-to-business networking and educational event, trade show and conference for military connected business owners, entrepreneurs, start-ups, decision-makers or anyone who is interested in starting, growing or empowering military connected small businesses. Learn from subject matter experts, veteran small business owners and thought leaders. BBBVirtual 2020 successfully hosted 451 participants for four, consecutive daily virtual lunch and learns. Baylor New Venture Competition | Deadline to apply: November 1, 2021

The John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship and Free Enterprise will host the eleventh annual Baylor New Venture Competition on March 24-26, 2022 at Baylor University's Foster Campus for Business and Innovation. This business plan and elevator pitch competition showcases collegiate student created, managed and led ventures from across the globe. The competition provides participants with personal and professional development through:

  • industry-specific mentorship towards sustainable business plans,
  • exclusive access to accomplished experts and fellow innovators, 
  • and a chance to compete for over $250,000 in cash prizes and vital resources.

Since its inception in 2012, more than 500 student entrepreneurs world-wide have applied to compete in the competition. Nearly $1 million in cash and prizes has been awarded to these collegiate entrepreneurs. For more information, visit baylor.edu/business.

Every year, Dallas Startup Week brings together entrepreneurs and change-makers for a week-long experience, described as the largest entrepreneurial event in North Texas, where they exchange ideas, collaborate, and grow alongside the 10th largest startup ecosystem in the US.

This year Dallas Startup Week will be hosted in person at SMU | Cox School of Business and Online through Brushfire. As an attendee you will have opportunity to customize your conference experience by reserving your spot in your favorite sessions and special events through Brushfire. During Dallas Startup Week you will be able to view sessions at your fingertips, connect with attendees and easily access schedule all in one with the Dallas Startup Week app. 


Women & Wealth | May 20, 2021

Women & Wealth is an online experience for women investors and women entrepreneurs to connect with one another, educate themselves on investing and entrepreneurship, learn strategies for success and inspire like-minded women to achieve their goals. The keynote speaker for the 2021 event will be Arlan Hamilton, founder and managing partner of Backstage Capital, a venture capital firm dedicated to minimizing funding disparities in tech by investing in high-potential founders who are people of color, women, and/or LGBT. Visit the TechFW website to learn more about the event and register.

Maker Fest
Maker Fest at UTA

Maverick Maker Fest is an event where local makers come together to present their projects, hobbies, small businesses, and knowledge to a broader public. Exhibitions include 3D printing, robotics, drones, woodwork, craft & embroidery, and fashion & wearables.




AISD's What's Your Big Idea?

Each year, The University of Texas at Arlington partners with Arlington Independent School District and the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce to host the city's What's Your Big Idea? Entrepreneurship Contest. Elementary, junior high, and high school students submit essay, art, and video entries to compete for the title of emerging entrepreneur. First-place winners receive a scholarship to an exclusive one-week entrepreneurship camp in partnership with UTA's EpICMavs program.
