The UTA School of Social Work invites nominations and applications for several non-tenure earning Assistant Professor-in-Practice positions effective fall semester 2017.

We are especially interested in adding faculty who will strengthen our capacity in the domains of Health, Aging, and Substance Use. Candidates should address their interests, strengths and experiences working and collaborating within these interdisciplinary domains in the application cover letter. We also ask that candidates highlight in their letter which of the preferred qualifications they possess.

Minimum requirements for the positions are:

  • An MSW in social work.
  • A minimum of two years post-MSW social work practice experience.

Preferences qualifications for the positions are:

  • A DSW/PhD in social work or related field.
  • Teaching experience whether in the classroom or via professional development offerings and trainings
  • Expertise to teach or develop courses in the following areas:
    • Death & Dying
    • Health
    • Substance Use Disorders (e.g., knowledge, assessment and treatment)
  • Capacity to teach across program levels (bachelor’s and master’s)
  • Ability to teach via various instructional delivery methods including face-to-face, service-learning, and online
  • Experience serving as a field instructor (i.e., supervising social work field practicums)
  • Evidence of a commitment to community service and leadership
  • Experience working collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams

The School of Social Work is one of the largest in the country, with more than 2,000 students enrolled in the BSW, MSW, and Ph.D. programs. The School is home to the Center for Addiction and Recovery Studies, the Judith Birmingham Center for Child Welfare, and the Center for Clinical Social Work, as well as serving as host for the University’s Diversity Studies Minor. It is also home to three professional journals: The Journal of Technology and Human Services, The Journal of Policy Practice, and Adoption Quarterly.
