Bilingual Caseworker Coach - Metrocrest Services

Position Description:  Comprehensive assessment of clients requesting social service assistance. Work involves interviewing clients to identify challenges, providing financial coaching, and assessing needs. Requires advocacy and collaboration with clients, service providers and agencies. Designs, recommends, implements, and evaluates strategies that help move families out of poverty. Engages, monitors, coaches and counsels clients using techniques that will lead to the client’s financial success.

  • Qualifications:  Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Social Work or related field. At least 2 years previous experience in case management. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the unique issues and challenges facing clients in crisis. Knowledge of coaching techniques.  Computer skills required: MS Word/Excel and Outlook; Salesforce preferred. Bilingual – English and Spanish.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs, strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and support systems of clients
  • Conduct client self-sufficiency benefit screening and verify their eligibility for benefits
  • Provide emergency assistance, crisis intervention, advocacy, and employment referrals to Workforce Specialists
  • Provide Information and Referral based on eligibility for services outside Metrocrest Services
  • Advocate for client and act as liaison when needed to procure outside community resources
  • Arrange for delivery of emergency food and placement in emergency shelters
  • Provide financial coaching, debt counseling, and credit counseling
  • Create and maintain case files, documenting services and providing detailed contact notes which includes monthly and/or quarterly follow ups required to satisfy all grant requirements
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless professional client service
  • Share office duties and assist Service Center activities (food pantry, intake) as needed
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings, training, conferences or other activities deemed relevant
  • Identify community needs and assist in development of resources and relationships to address them
  • Track the progress of programs at Metrocrest Services; prepare agency reports to measure outcomes, identify improvements and implement changes
  • Prepare demographic and other reports on regular basis

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of current policies, laws, and regulations governing eligibility for clients and ability to communicate it to client in clear, accurate, and friendly manner
  • Effective interviewing techniques and procedures
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Ability to work with a diverse client base and a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills

Work Hours:

Regular office hours are 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Mon.-Fri. and Sat. 9:00 AM-1:00 PM.

This position requires flexibility to participate in Saturday schedule as needed.
