Our Services

Below are the following services we offer.

Students who are interested in updating their gender marker with the university need to fill out the following form with the University Registrar’s office. The LGBTQ+ Program can assist students with scanning in supporting documentation and converting to PDF’s. We advise students to contact the LGBTQ+ Program directly for assistance with legal gender marker changes.

The LGBTQ+ Program works with fantastic LGBTQ+ community organizations in the DFW area to connect students with who are looking for the following free resources: Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and HIV/STI testing.

Students who are experiencing food insecurity can shop the Maverick Pantry Monday – Thursday 10:00AM-3:00PM. Food options vary based on donations received. Food and essentials are free of cost and open to all UTA students, faculty, and staff who are experiencing need. Students must have their MAV ID card at time of shopping experience. Students who would like to request a To-Go Food Bag may email EAF@UTA.EDU.

LGBTQ+ Program staff acknowledge how academics can decline with students experience the following: not being able to live as their authentic selves, struggling with gender and/or sexual identity, victim of sexual assault and/or relationship violence, a harmful teaching environment, and much more. Students do not need to suffer in silence. Connect with us if you are struggling so we can ensure your academic success at UTA.

Name and Mav ID Updates

If you are a student whose chosen name does not reflect your birth name, please contact the LGBTQ+ Program so we can have Canvas updated to reflect your chosen name. Additionally, we will be able to coordinate a new Mav ID for you, free of charge, so your ID reflects your chosen name. Neither advocacy service requires a legal name change.
