The Maverick Advantage program encourages the development of marketable skills through experiential learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom within the five distinguishing activities. This competitive advantage distinguishes UTA students from their peers and prepares them for the workforce or future academic endeavors.

To earn the Maverick Advantage Distinction, you need three different experiences that contribute to distinct categories within leadership development, career development, undergraduate research, global engagement, and community engagement. Although UTA has hundreds of experiences that could impact your learning in each of these areas, that doesn't mean all experiences must be found on campus. Off campus examples include: community service, off campus employment, military service and more.

All UTA students are encouraged to explore the program at any stage of their academic journey. Support for the program can be found integrated throughout UTA within courses, part-time employment, internships, and involvement and engagement opportunities.

Apply for the Maverick Advantage Distinction through the online application, which requires your resume and written reflection, during your final semester prior to graduation. Once your application is submitted, you will be scheduled for an individual conversation (virtual or on-campus) with a faculty or staff member prior to commencement ceremonies.

Enrollment is not needed, but rather the program is woven throughout the opportunities available to UTA students. Students are encouraged to learn more exploring the website, visiting with an advisor or faculty or staff member.
