Success U Summer Program

 

PROGRAM INFORMATION 

Join us for an exciting VIRTUAL opportunity to attend a 5-week summer program for first-year Mavericks. We know that you want to be successful in your first semester at UTA. Success U is your opportunity to get a head start on your transition to college and be prepared for the rigor of college classes!  

During this VIRTUAL 5-week program you will experience high energy workshops and opportunities to build connections with other first-year students. This is the perfect way to sharpen your skills, knowledge and abilities while making new friends and learning how to accomplish your goals in college.

Earn the $350 Provost's Award for Fall 2021!

 

Provost's Award requirements:

  • Attend 4 out of 5 workshops (Success U has five, 2-hr workshops once per week)
  • Attend one 1:1 mentoring session with your Success U Mentor (30 minutes)
  • Attend one academic coaching session

Upon meeting these requirements, your $350 Provost's Award will be applied to your student account for fall 2021.

  

What to expect

Expect to have lots of fun! At Success U you will participate in a weekly small group session led by Success U Peer mentors. This program is VIRTUAL and no cost to you!

  

How long is Success U?

Meet once a week for 5 weeks to prepare for academics in your first year.

 

When is Success U?

You will pick a day/time for your weekly 2-hour session. You may choose from:

  • Session A:  June 7 - July 9
  • Session B:  July 12 - August 13

How much time do I spend each week?

  • You will participate in one 2-hour small group workshop each week led by a Success U Peer Mentor   
  • You will have one 1:1 session with your Success U Peer Mentor to focus on your goals

What will I learn?

  • 10 academic strategy topics in 5 workshops for academic success in the first year and beyond
  • Work with an Academic Coach to create an academic plan for Fall 2021

 

Registration

  • Session A (June 7 – July 9) is open from May 1 – June 2
  • Session B (July 12 – August 13) is open from June 1 – July 7

FAQ

The program is only open to UTA Freshmen who are starting in Fall 2021.

All students are encouraged to enroll in 12 or more hours in the fall to ensure the best chance at completing your degree on time. Your advisor will encourage you to enroll in 15 or as close to 15 hours as possible. You are not required to be a full-time student, however, to complete Success U.
