Spirit Week
Spirit Week, hosted by the UTA Ambassadors, is a celebration of all things Maverick! Show your school pride and test your knowledge of UTA history and traditions!
Show your Maverick Pride all week long! Receive points for attending the events and then prizes for the points! The overall student organization/team with the most points will be announced at the last event of the week.

Monday, March 25th - Thursday, March 28th
Spirit Week Challenge
This year we are starting the Spirit Week Challenge! Student organizations can complete to win extra points for Spirit Week by downloading the GooseChase app and searching UTA Spirit Week 2019! The challenge will open Monday at 12:00AM and close Thursday at 11:59PM.
Participating is easy:
- Download the GooseChase app, either create an account or start as a guest.
- Search for “UTA Spirit Week 2019” to find the game.
- If you are the first person from your org to join the game, create a team, the name of your student org should be the name of your team so we can track points. If your student org is already listed as a team, join it.
- Complete the missions!
5 points: to each team for participating
20 points: awarded to the overall winner

Come treat yourself to FREE ice cream of your choice as you “Get the Scoop” about the UTA Ambassadors! Learn about the UTA Ambassadors program and how you can become involved in the organization.

Show your Maverick Pride and help the UTA Ambassadors “Take Over” Twisted Root! Buy lunch and earn points for your team, each receipt with a valid purchase on it (no alcohol) will receive points!

Maverick Speaker Series - Anna Deavere Smith
Anna Deavere Smith is an actor, playwright, and professor. In 2012, she was awarded the National Humanities Medal, presented by President Obama, and in 2015, she was named a Jefferson Lecturer, the nation’s highest honor in the humanities. She has acted in Black-ish, Nurse Jackie, and The West Wing.
The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Speakers Series provides a forum for today’s brightest minds to examine the ideas, actions, solutions, and people that impact the world around us. In 2017-18—our 10th anniversary season—UTA welcomed alumni Lou Diamond Phillips and Roland Fryer back to campus, along with Anousheh Ansari, Michael Pollan, and Gretchen Carlson. In previous years, the Maverick Speakers Series has featured such renowned voices as Michio Kaku, Seth Meyers, Emmitt Smith, Soledad O’Brien, Bill Nye, Jane Goodall, and many more. You won’t want to miss a single event in our 2018-19 season, which features entrepreneur Graham Hill, actor and activist Terry Crews, Harvard professor Naomi Oreskes, animal conservationist Jack Hanna, and actor Anna Deavere Smith.

Campus Elections Spring 2019: Candidate Forum
Join the Election Supervisory Board to learn about the candidates for Student Body President, Vice President, and Mr. & Ms. UTA. Students can ask questions and get feedback from the future top leaders of campus!
Student will also get snacks and light refreshments.

Bed Races - Hosted by EXCEL
Join the fun on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 as teams of students push beds on wheels while decked out in creative costumes at the University's "longest running" tradition. Bed Races began in 1980 to celebrate the opening of Maverick Stadium. Racing beds are provided. Teams of five may register to enter the races. General admission to this event is free and open to the campus and community; entry into the races requires registration and payment of participation fee by the deadline.
The theme for Bed Races 2019 is 90's cartoons! We encourage racers and non-racers to wear themed costumes and enter our costume contest. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Doors open at 6:30 pm | Mandatory captain's meeting: 7:45 pm | Race begins at 8:00 pm

Canned Food Drive
Support and help the community by donating canned goods that will be given to the UTA Food Panrty. Please do not donate expired canned foods!

Trivia Night
Test your knowledge of UTA facts and history! Student organizations/teams will compete head-to-head in a Jeopardy-style competition. Fill out the online registration form in order for your team to compete! REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED!

Show your Maverick pride at this Pep Rally to close out Spirit Week, with UTA Athletics, Spirit Groups, and UTA Marching Band! Spirit Week winners will be announced at the Pep Rally!
