  • Eligible for work-study with appropriate documentation.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment, basic keyboarding, filing and familiarity with multi-line phone systems.
  • Customer service background preferred.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.


  • Answer multi-line telephone and direct calls to appropriate area or personnel.
  • Assist student users in purchasing tutorial hours and understanding program guidelines.
  • Assist staff personnel with filing, copying handouts, distributing flyers and running errands as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supplemental Instruction Leader

SI Leaders serve as mentors and instructors in a special course review sessions for classes across the university. Supplemental Instruction leaders are responsible for holding at least 3 weekly study sessions, one weekly office hour, and must attend class along with their students to take notes and review the material taught each week. This position is open to juniors and seniors who have achieved an overall GPA of 3.0 and at least an A or B in the class with which they are placed. This is a unique position that will prepare students for graduate teaching positions and offer new opportunities for working with faculty from their major.


If you are looking for a flexible work schedule where you can set your own hours while still serving your fellow students, then perhaps a tutoring position is right for you. We hire juniors, senior, and graduate students as tutors for classes across the university who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an A or B in the class to be tutored. Tutors will work with the staff of University Tutorial to set times when they are available and may work with students at locations across campus or in our in-house tutoring rooms located in Ransom Hall.

Peer Educator

Once an SSS participant signs up for tutoring, they are committed to a consistent weekly tutoring for the remainder of the semester. Tutoring subject areas include: Accounting, Economics, English, French, Spanish, History, Political Science, Sociology, Anatomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, and Statistics.

Peer Academic Leader

Peer Academic Leaders are undergraduate students assigned to Learning Communities, and Residential Learning Communities to assist new students in their transition to college life.  PALs work with students in every college and school on campus to help teach academic skills that are important for achieving overall student success.  They also offer innovative programs aimed at providing fun and informative opportunities for students to get involved on campus and in the community while learning more about the expectations of college.

As a PAL, you will be responsible for teaching skills related to academic success in one section of UTA's Student Success/First-Year Experience Practicum that are offered in every college on campus. In addition to either mentoring or leading, you will work with Faculty and Staff to ensure that new Mavericks are integrated into the UTA community.

The minimum qualifications to be considered for hire as a Peer Academic Leader include:

  • At least one-year of college experience (prior to teaching the class)
  • Good academic and judicial standing at UTA
  • 2.75 cumulative grade point average (3.000 or higher preferred)
  • 2.75 semester grade point average (3.000 or higher preferred)
  • Undergraduate student status
  • Enrollment in and successful completion of the PAL Training Course (UNIV 3335) in the spring semester before you start working (but after you are selected)
  • Previous leadership experience (preferred)
  • Previous enrollment in a Freshman Practicum or similar class (preferred)
