University Tutorial & Supplemental Instruction provides academic support services for a variety of classes. Supplemental Instruction, or SI, is a free service that helps students work in groups to understand class concepts.  Tutoring helps students develop and grow strong study habits by working one-on-one with a tutor. eTutoring provides free online tutoring, including writing assistance.

Univeristy Tutorial provides undergraduate students with individualized tutoring in a variety of courses for free. The Student Services Fee Advisory Committee subsidizes the cost so that high-quality tutoring is available for free.

Tutors are undergraduate or graduate students who have been recommended by professors, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and received an A or B in the subject they tutor. They must complete at least 10 hours of training before working with students and attend additional training sessions each semester.

Students may schedule sessions with a tutor during the week or on weekends, depending upon the tutor's schedule and availability. All tutoring sessions are held on the 2nd floor of the Central Library.  Regular semester tutoring hours: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m Mondays through Thursdays; 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Fridays; 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturdays; 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sundays.

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of peer-assisted weekly study sessions designed to help students succeed in traditionally difficult courses. SI sessions are regularly scheduled sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings and course lectures, and work together to master the course material. In SI, students learn how to use specific study skills for the course while mastering the content. SI sessions provide an excellent opportunity for you to

  • Meet with classmates and your SI leader to compare lecture notes.
  • Develop strategies for studying and learning the course material.
  • Prepare effectively for exams.

SI is free and open to all students in the supported course. All students are encouraged to attend SI, though the program is voluntary. It has been proven that regular participation in SI can help you raise your course grades by one-half to a full letter grade. SI helps you succeed and meet your goals!
