THE IDENTITY SYSTEM

Schools, Centers, Divisions, and Departments

Customized signatures for individual UTA schools, centers, and divisions (units), as well as departments (sub-units) are created by integrating the name of the unit with the UTA signature using specific templates. The signatures exist in two versions—one for usage online and on small print applications and one for large (display) applications.

VERSION A, STANDARD UNIT SIGNATURE

Each school or center should use Version A as the standard configuration. Unit names to be set into two or three lines of text. Use this signature configuration primarily for narrow display purpose such as letterheads, window or door signage, and vehicle identification signage.

Customized signatures are created from templates. The unit name is Frutiger 55 Regular, UTA blue. To develop or request school, center, division or departmental signatures, contact University Communications.

VERSION B, SCHOOLS, CENTERS, OR DIVISIONS ONLY

Use Version B whenever the unit name needs to be emphasized or particularly legible—such as on covers and letterheads of satellite campuses. It may only be used by schools, centers and divisions—but not departments.

The one-line version may be used for names up to 34 characters long. The two-line version accommodates longer names.

Customized signatures are created from templates. The unit name is Frutiger 55 Regular, 70% black. If an article such as OF, AND, or IN appears in the name, it is set as Frutiger 65 Bold, small caps. To develop or request school, center, or division signatures, contact University Communications.

Customized signatures are created from templates. The unit name is Frutiger 55 Regular, 70% black. If an article such as OF, AND or IN appears in the name, it is set as Frutiger 65 Bold, small caps. To develop or request school, center, or division signatures, contact University Communications.

VERSION D

Version D should only be used in somewhat limited situations when space is at a premium.

It is intended to indicate within a limited amount of space a department name, (sub-unit) as well as the larger entity (unit) that they are a part of.

For most print and web marketing applications, it is preferable to simply set the name of the department in text prominently on the page and additionally use either the University’s logo, or the school, division, and centers logo configuration (version B) either at the bottom of page, or back cover.

For more suggestions on placements of logos for units, please see guidelines for general formats for unit specific covers or address black placement on back covers.
