Update on recent UT Arlington police investigations

Recently, news stories have been published regarding reports of sexual assault alleged to have occurred on the UT Arlington campus, and some members of the University community have inquired about these incidents.

When accusations such as these are brought forward, the University responds immediately, works closely with the UT Arlington Police Department to ensure that there is no imminent threat to our community, and determines the best course of action regarding the investigations and public communication. The University cooperates fully with police throughout any investigation and remains focused on the well-being of those involved and our community at large.

Rest assured that in these recent cases, police determined that there was no imminent threat to our community and that the victims and the suspects were known to each other. These were not cases of intruders on campus or the actions of an unknown assailant.

Because the criminal investigations are ongoing and yet to be resolved, police cannot release further details. No criminal charges have been filed to date.

UT Arlington is committed to ensuring a healthy, safe and secure environment. For more information about the University’s public safety resources and crime prevention programs, please visit UT Arlington police encourage members of the campus community to report any suspicious persons or activity by calling 817-272-3381.
