Planetarium to show movies; new programs added for spring

ARLINGTON - Movie dates became a little more affordable with $2 movies at the UT Arlington Planetarium, 700 Planetarium Place.

Second-run movies will show on the big screen in the planetarium dome at 6 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and at 2:30 p.m. Saturdays.

Upcoming movies include "Hitchhiker's Guide," "Men in Black," "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" and "The Fifth Element." Check the Web site at for the movie schedule.

The spring schedule includes other new programs. "Ice Worlds" explores the effect ice has on our ecosystem and the ecosystems of other planets in our solar system. "Bad Astronomy" looks at the myths and misconceptions in astronomy and sets the record straight. "Rock on Demand" lets participants choose the classic rock music for a laser show. "The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket" is a solar system program for children. Matinees on Tuesday and Sunday feature a different Planetarium show weekly.
