ARLINGTON - A new scholarship at The University of Texas at Arlington is aimed at helping graduate students who have not found a job or have lost a job because of the economy.

The $2,500 UT Arlington Graduate Stimulus Scholarship is designed for new UT Arlington graduate students for the upcoming fall and spring semester.

The scholarship will be divided between fall 2009 and spring 2010 semesters. This competitive scholarship also would allow non-resident recipients to pay tuition at the in-state resident rate.

Candidates should be recent UT Arlington graduates who have not yet entered the workforce or those who have lost their jobs due to the recent economic downturn. To qualify, a student must be a new graduate student, enrolled for the fall semester with at least six hours. Also, candidates must submit an essay on why they should be selected.

The deadline to apply is July 1.
