Author to speak at Friends of UT Arlington Library

ARLINGTON - Award winning reporter Mike Cochran, author of the new book "The Godfather of Poker: The Doyle Brunson Story," will speak to the Friends of The University of Texas at Arlington Library at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the sixth floor parlor at the Central Library, 702 Planetarium Place. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Mike CochranCochran is a former Associated Press reporter and a three-time nominee for the Pulitzer Prize. Cochran has spent four decades with the international news service roving Texas, interviewing unique individuals and reporting on stories from crime to entertainment. He has written six books, including "And Deliver Us from Evil," which dealt with the Cullen Davis murder trial and was the inspiration for a CBS television movie. Another book, "Claytie," about Texas rancher, wildcatter and one-time gubernatorial hopeful Clayton Williams, is the best-selling title ever published by Texas A&M University Press.

Cochran's new book chronicles the life of the legendary "Babe Ruth of Poker." Brunson, a two-time winner of the World Series of Poker, is considered by many to be the greatest gambler and poker player of all times.  Copies of Cochran's book will be sold at the Friends event, and the author will be available to sign copies.
