Blaze Forward Program

It’s easy to apply for the Blaze Forward program. You need to meet all eligibility requirements and UTA must receive your admissions application (as well as all required admissions documents) and your FASFA or TASFA application (as well as all required financial aid documents) before April 15, 2024, for the 2024-2025 academic school year. Students meeting all eligibility requirements will automatically be considered for the program and will be notified. There is not an additional application needed for the program.

The Blaze Forward program covers 100% of qualifying students’ tuition and course fees that are not covered by federal, state and institutional grant aid, tuition waivers, general scholarships, and other gifted aid.

Other programs including scholarships awarded through Mav ScholarShop, outside scholarships, federal, state and private student loans, and work programs may be used to cover other educational expenses such as textbooks, housing, and meals.

Yes, based on available funding, new students must start at UTA in the fall semester.

Yes, all currently enrolled UTA students who meet the eligibility requirements including having received TEXAS Grant during the 2023-2024 academic year will automatically be considered for the Blaze Forward program for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Blaze Forward Program during the 2024-2025 academic year:

1. New freshmen students - all admission documents must be received by the UTA Office of Admissions by April 15, 2024
2. New transfer students with an Associate’s degree from a Texas college - all admission documents must be received by the UTA Office of Admissions by April 15, 2024
3. Current students must be receiving the TEXAS Grant during the 2024-2025 aid year and meet all renewal requirements
4. All financial aid forms, including the FAFSA or TASFA, must be received by the Office of Financial Aid by April 15, 2024
5. Be a Texas resident paying the in-state tuition rate
6. Be eligible to receive awards through the Federal Pell Grant and the TEXAS Grant* programs
7. Have a yearly family income of $85,000 or less
8. Enroll as a full-time student at UTA (minimum of 12 undergraduate hours each long semester)

If your family’s yearly income exceeds $85,000 after you’ve been approved to participate in the Blaze Forward program, you will no longer be guaranteed to continue in the program. However, UTA will offer you the maximum financial aid for which you are eligible.

No, but you may be eligible for other financial aid programs including UTA’s academic and departmental scholarships through Mav ScholarShop.

Yes, transfer students who meet the eligibility requirements will automatically be considered for the Blaze Forward program for the 2024-2025 academic year. Transfer students must meet the following requirements to be eligible:

1. New incoming transfer students must earn an Associate’s degree from a Texas college within the 12 months prior to enrolling at UTA and it must be on file with the UTA Office of Admissions by June 15, 2024
2. All admission documents must be received by the UTA Office of Admissions by April 15, 2024
3. All financial aid forms, including the FAFSA or TASFA application, must be received by the Office of Financial Aid by April 15, 2024
4. Be a Texas resident paying the in-state tuition rate
5. Be eligible to receive awards through the Federal Pell Grant and the TEXAS Grant* programs
6. Have a yearly family income of $85,000 or less
7. Enroll as a full-time student at UTA (minimum of 12 undergraduate hours each long semester)

For consideration, send your official transcript with the earned associate’s degree by June 15 to the Office of Admissions. If you meet all other eligibility requirements, you will receive a revised financial aid offer no later than the end of July.

Program participation may be renewed for up to 4 years (8 long semesters) for incoming freshmen or 2 years (4 long semesters) for incoming transfer students, or upon graduation if sooner than the 4- or 2-year renewal window, when recipients:

1. Continue to meet all eligibility requirements and deadlines each year
2. Maintain a cumulative 2.5 grade point average
3. Complete at least 24 credit hours for the fall and spring semesters combined

If you withdraw from UTA or take a semester off, you will no longer be guaranteed to continue in the Blaze Forward Program. However, UTA will offer you the maximum financial aid for which you are eligible when you re-enroll or re-apply.

Yes, the Blaze Forward program applies the same fund made up of federal, state, and institutional grants to cover the class tuition and course fees for eligible UTA promise program students who have also met all the requirements and deadlines for the Blaze Forward program.

Yes, outside scholarships and scholarships awarded through Mav ScholarShop may be used for other expenses beyond tuition and fees.
