Mary Vaccaro Discoveries in the Parma Baptismal Registers
Burlington Magazine publishes essays by UTA art history professor and authority on the School of Parma
The Burlington Magazine, a prestigious London-based international art journal, has published first of three essays by the distinguished UTA Professor Mary Vaccaro. Dedicated to her recent discoveries in the Parma baptismal registers, the first essay in the series is titled “Parmigianino as godfather.” The essay identifies the occasions on which the artist Francesco Mazzola, better known as Parmigianino (1503-40), stood as godfather and explores their significance for understanding his social networks. The essay series are dedicated to the memory of Dr. Rick Brettell, Vaccaro’s dear friend and colleague.
