 Welcome ack, UTA Pre-Law Students!!  As we move into the second half of this school year, we hope that you carve out time to enjoy the programming and events that are happening in the Pre-Law Center and in the Pre-Law student orgs!  Details for how to join are below.

Pre-Law & LLS Minor Honor Cords for Graduation

For those of you graduating this May, we will be awarding honor cords for Pre-Law and Law and Legal Studies Minor students at the Pre-Law Achievers Banquet on April 25th at the hooding ceremony.

To receive your cords, you must complete the Graduate Form linked below as early as possible.  Those graduates completing the form will also have access grad family tickets so that family can join in the banquet celebration as well!

New Paid Legal Internship Opportunity in Arlington

Hill Gilstrap’s Arlington office is looking to fill an immediate need for two new internship positions this summer.  These positions are potentially long-term part-time opportunities extending into the Summer/Fall months.  The firm is willing to work around students’ schedules.  Students must have a vehicle as they will be going on administrative courthouse runs and will be reimbursed weekly for mileage.  They will also be doing courthouse filing under the direction and supervision of a law clerk or legal assistant, providing the student with an opportunity to be involved with legal proceedings.

Students will be able to purchase their voucher through the Pre-Law Center online marketplace.  The Voucher gives you the ability to take an LSAT Fundamentals prep course with the schedule of your choosing.  You will then have access to 6 months of LSAT Core + 7Sage Live where you can speak with live course instructors as well as access to various Videos on Demand, unlimited practice tests ahead of the official test you will be taking. 

How can I purchase a voucher?

Go to our online Pre-Law Center Marketplace.  There are only a limited number of vouchers available.  Please email prelaw@uta.edu if you have questions about the LSAT Prep Course.

 

  • Free Logical Reasoning Workshop for UTA Students hosted by ScorePerfect

You are invited to a free Logical Reasoning Workshop presented by ScorePerfect, the leader in high-end LSAT preparation.

When: February 6, 2024 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM Central Time

The workshop will be conducted by Steve Hayden, a veteran ScorePerfect instructor with over 12 years of LSAT teaching experience, an official LSAT score of 176, and a J.D. from Boston University. The workshop will focus on the logical reasoning section, which will be two-thirds of the test starting in August. Attendees will be challenged with a series of difficult LSAT questions and Steve will demonstrate the most effective methods for tackling them.

Students new to UTA or new the pursuit of a legal career will find benefit in socializing with other students pursuing the same goals!  This year, the officers are working to bring you a virtual semester of speakers, socials, community service events and the PLS LSAT Prep Study Group meeting bi-weekly resuming Spring 2024!

Meetings take place every other Monday at noon in the Pre-Law Center.

Women In Law

Women in Law is meeting and looking for new members!  This organization is open to all majors and seeks to provide resources to advance women’s interest in the legal world. Students can look forward to bi-monthly meetings, socials, the WIL Speaker Series and each semester the WIL Spring Retreat!  The 2022 April Spring Retreat in Las Colinas is in the books and was amazing!

Meetings take place every other Wednesday at noon in the Pre-Law Center beginning February 7th

Pre-Law Chapter of National Black Law Students Association

For over fifty years, the National Black Law Students Association has worked to develop culturally responsible Black and minority law students that excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community. NBLSA members are activists, thought leaders, and strategic thinkers. NBLSA alumni are partners, general counsel, judges, non-profit executives, and business operatives.

Meetings take place every other Wednesday in the Pre-Law Center 3:30 – 5:30pm
