The Palaeo-Agulhas Plain: A lost world and extinct ecosystem

In this Special Issue, we present a fully integrated model of an extinct ecosystem – the Palaeo-Agulhas-Plain (PAP). This revolutionary research approach intertwines geophysical, biotic, and anthropological evidence to produce an emergent system greater than the sum of its parts. This now mostly submerged 85,000 km2 region off the southern African coast, has had a profound and lasting effect on modern biological and anthropological landscapes.
