Development, Outreach and Service

A focus on community makes the UTA College of Science unique and it's so important that it's one of the strategic goals. Maverick Science aims to engage and build partnerships on a local, national and global scale through development, outreach and service. Outstanding faculty, talented students, a culture of innovation, state of the art facilities and our location in the D-FW Metroplex allow the College of Science to fulfill the mission of serving the community as an intellectual and knowledge resource in STEM fields, for providing lifelong education, and for solving complex problems of importance to society.

UTA Planetarium & Shows

UTA Planetarium is one of the three largest planetariums in Texas located in Arlington on The University of Texas at Arlington campus. With its 60-foot dome projection surface, fully digital projection system, and advanced software, UTA Planetarium provides unparalleled views of the night sky, the solar system, stars, and distant galaxies — all complemented with Dolby® surround sound. UTA Planetarium is the perfect tool to inspire students' interest in science and technology as well as to teach challenging concepts to students of any age.

Science Ambassadors

The Science Ambassadors, comprised of some of UTA's finest undergraduate students, provide exciting and educational science demonstration programs to audiences of students from grades 3 to 12. Shows are normally presented on campus and can be paired with a visit to the UTA Planetarium to make the perfect science field trip.

K-12 Outreach

The College of Science sponsors and hosts a variety of science programs for K-12 students each year. These programs provide young students with opportunities to learn about science and mathematics and help them get excited about pursuing science and mathematics degrees and careers in their futures.

UTeach Arlington

UTeach Arlington is a science and mathematics secondary teacher preparation program at The University of Texas at Arlington, built into degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, and Physics. Students are able to earn a rigorous bachelor's degree in math or science along with secondary teacher certification within a 4-year timeframe. UTeach features early field experiences in K-12 schools, the use of experienced Master Teachers as instructors, mentor teachers in local school districts, and development of teacher candidates' content knowledge and effective teaching techniques.

College of Science Advisory Council

The Advisory Council is comprised of College of Science alumni, industry leaders, and community partners whose purpose is to advise and counsel the dean and College leadership on important matters impacting the future of the College, strategy, programs, and external affairs. The members have four main roles: advisors, advocates, ambassadors, and philanthropic supporters of the College and its mission.

Student Orgs

The College has more than 30 student organizations, a great way for students to make friends, participate in service activities, hear from industry professionals, and establish meaningful connections.
