The fast pace of AP Physics 2 challenges both students and instructors. This workshop will strengthen your understanding of the content of AP Physics 2, familiarize you with the available resources, and arm you with research-based strategies for making the most of your class time.
Topics will include the following:
• Content: what to teach and what can be left out.
• What are the changes to the AP Physics 2 course and exam for 2025
• Writing a syllabus and planning a calendar for the year
• Thinking conceptually to solve problems efficiently
• Techniques from Physics Education Research
• Effective use of released exams
• How to structure your class tests to effectively prepare students.
• Labs using technology and, on a budget,
• Guided inquiry labs
• Structuring homework/classwork for maximum learning and minimum grading
Chris was an aerospace engineer before becoming a teacher. He has been the L.D. Bell High teacher of the year, and the Lead AP Physics Teacher for Dallas ISD, where he was the recipient of the O’Donnell Texas AP Teacher Award. Chris has also been a Regional Director and Physics Content Specialist at the National Math and Science Initiative and has written several books. Chris has taught all varieties of AP Physics over 28 years and is a certified College Board consultant. He currently teaches at L.D. Bell High School in Hurst TX and continues to work with students and train teachers from across the country.
