Course Description
 
 

During this AP U.S. History APSI, you’ll explore the course framework, the exam, and the new AP resources that will help you plan and focus instruction—and give you feedback throughout the year on the areas where individual students need additional focus. You’ll also learn about completing the digital activation process at the start of the school year that will give you immediate access to the new resources and will help ensure that your students can register for AP Exams by the new fall deadlines. By attending this APSI, you’ll gain deeper insight into the following key takeaways, among several others: Understand the Course; Plan the Course; Teach the Course; Assess Student Progress; and Engage as a Member of the AP Community. In addition, specific attention will be paid to the following AP Classroom resources: unit guides, personal progress checks, AP teacher community, and the AP question bank.

Biographical Sketch for Noah Lipman
 
 

The Instructor, Noah Lipman, a product of the NYC public school system, is a retired New York City trial attorney who has taught at the law school, college, and high school level. From 2004-2018 he was a professor at Monmouth University where he taught courses in history, political science, and business. He was also the CO-AP® Coordinator at Long Branch High School, a Title I urban district school in New Jersey, where he taught AP® American Government and Politics; AP® US History; and AP® Macro Economics. He created and maintained a dual credit program with Monmouth University for the students in his Long Branch AP courses and was honored as both a Teacher of the Year and Leader of the Year for the high school. He has served as a Reader and table leader for the annual scoring of the AP® Government and Politics and APUS History exams for the last 18 years. He is one of the original national mentors for the APUS History and AP Government program and is a trainer of new consultants in the subject of AP Government. In 2010 he was honored by College Board as one of their national teachers of the year. In 2012 he was named as a finalist at Monmouth University for the Martin Luther King Unsung Hero award. In 2015 he was honored as the winner of the Alfred Sloan award for teaching economics by the Council for Economic Education (CEE). He was a Master Teacher and National Webinar Presenter for CEE. He is a previous member of the New York Federal Reserve Bank’s education advisory committee and the coach for the high school’s Fed Challenge and Euro Challenge economic teams as well as their Mock Trial teams. He is a consultant for College Board in the subjects of APUSH, AP Government, and Equity and Access, and has presented workshops across the country in those subjects. He has also been a coach and instructor for NMSI in the subjects of APUS History and AP Government and has worked with teachers on their behalf around the nation. He now works as a Master Teacher-AP Specialist at Highlands High School for the San Antonio Independent School District in Texas where he also teaches AP Government, APUS History, AP Macro Economics and AP African American Studies, as well as dual credit classes with Alamo College and coaches their Mock Trial Team which he created. In 2021 he was named the Highlands High School teacher of the year as well as the Distinguished Teacher of the Year for the San Antonio Independent school district and was honored by the San Antonio Express News as one of the distinguished “Lights of the City of San Antonio” in the field of education. In 2022 he was named a finalist for secondary teacher of the year for region 20 in the state of Texas. In 2023 the students in his Government and Macroeconomic classes were honored for their AP exam passing rate which placed them in the top 10 for the entire state of Texas for Urban District Title I traditional high schools where at least 10 students took the exam.
