Raj and Mona Malik Pledge $500,000 Scholarship

Business entrepreneurs Raj ('93) and Mona Malik recently pledged a $500,000 scholarship to foster a campus culture of innovation. Raj created the idea for Irving-based Bioworld Merchandising, INC, while a student at UTA and has since transformed it into a global leader in the licensing and branding industry. "I was raised by parents who instilled in me from an early age that it was virtuous to help everyone around you," Raj said. "I want to make sure these scholarships enable students to pursue their dreams." READ MORE

New Cappa Dean

Adrian Parr has been appointed dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs. Parr is currently the holder of the UNESCO Chair on Water Access and Sustainability at the University of Cincinnati. Her appointment strengthens UTA's focus on sustainable urban communities as part of its Strategic Plan 2020: Bold Solutions, Global Impact. READ MORE

National Champs

Your Lady Movin' Mavs made history last week after capping an undefeated season with a win in the championship game of the 2018 National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament against the University of Alabama. This is the team's second national championship in three years. READ MORE

Maria Martinez-Cosio, assistant vice provost for faculty development and an associate professor in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs, will serve a three-year term on the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institutes Educators board. READ MORE

CONHI Dream Makers Gala | Join us at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel for a gala event benefiting the College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Former Texas Ranger Michael Young will give the keynote address, and all proceeds will support scholarships for all students in the College. GET YOUR TICKETS

April 21 | Saturday

Jazz Brunch | Hit all the right notes and join us at the annual UTA Jazz Brunch at the 2018 Fort Worth Main St. Arts Festival. The brunch begins at 11:30 AM, but you can arrive early to watch the first of three UTA performances starting at 11:00 AM. Additional performances are scheduled for 12:30 and 2:00 PM. TICKETS
