International Commencement

While preparations for spring commencement ceremonies take shape in Arlington, graduate students in UTA's EMBA program at the University of Science and Technology in Beijing participated in their graduation ceremony last week and were welcomed into the alumni family. Over the next few months, we will introduce you to the growing international presence of Maverick alumni and showcase their influence around the world. 2018 CHCI Medallion of Excellence
Michele Bobadilla

Michele Bobadilla, a longtime UTA administrator, was awarded the prestigious 2018 Medallion of Excellence in Education, Science, Medicine, or Civil Rights from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Bobadilla is the assistant provost for Hispanic student success and senior associate vice president for outreach services and community engagement. READ MORE

NSF Grant helps math students excel

UTA's Department of Mathematics, chaired by Jianzhong Su, received a new four-year grant from the National Science Foundation to continue a highly successful program that provides funds for high-achieving, financially disadvantaged undergraduate students to pursue degrees in mathematics. The grant is the third for the Math Department’s System for Undergraduates to Reach Goals in Education or SURGE program. READ MORE

Water recycling
UTA Alumni Relations

UTA's Collaborative Laboratories for Environmental Analysis and Remediation, led by Kevin Schug, is developing water recycling technologies that will transform waste from oil and gas development into reusable water in partnership with Challenger Water Solutions, a leading oil field equipment supplier. National Champs
UTA Alumni Relations

UTA's cheerleading team won its fifth consecutive National Championship title at the National Cheerleaders Association collegiate cheer competition in Daytona, Fla. The 20-member Maverick Cheer squad took home first place in the Small Coed Division I group. READ MORE

Karla Ramberger ('95) was recently named chief nursing officer of Sunrise Hospital and Health Care in Las Vegas. Prior to this role, Ramberger served as CNO at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. READ MORE

Student Service Learning Showcase | Alumni are invited to attend the inaugural Student Service Learning Showcase, a scholarship competition for individual students and student teams. Breakfast is provided at the 8 AM event in the University Center Carlisle Suite. MORE INFO

April 28 | Saturday

Brazos House Farewell | Did you live in and love Brazos House? Come celebrate the building and share your memories at a picnic as UTA says goodbye to the beloved building and hello to the potential to create new spaces for future generations of Mavericks. The gathering will take place from 4 to 7 PM. REGISTER

May 14 | Monday

UTA Metro Golf Tournament | The 45th Annual UTA Metro Golf Tournament will tee off at the Golf Club at Fossil Creek in Fort Worth. Alumni receive a special rate to play but hurry! Registration ends Monday, April 30. Sign up as a single player or a team of four. It will be an 8 AM shotgun start. REGISTER

May 18 | Friday

Alumni and Friends at Clay Gould Ballpark | Root for the home team as UTA Alumni Relations hosts a picnic before your Mavericks take on Texas State in a Sun Belt Conference showdown. Purchase your ticket for a fajita buffet from Fuzzy's and UTA giveaways. Kids 2 and under are free! TICKETS
