Woods Among Best in Texas
Bob Woods

Bob Woods, a longtime UTA mechanical engineering professor and founder of the UTA FSAE racing team, has been named a 2017 Piper Professor by the San Antonio-based Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. The award, established in 1958 to recognize outstanding college professors across Texas, is made annually to honor educators' dedication to teaching and for their outstanding academic achievement. Woods is the 10th UTA professor to be named a Piper Professor. READ MORE

Student Wins Regents Award
Frederick Tran

UTA senior Frederick Tran won the 2017 Regents' Outstanding Arts and Humanities Award in Creative Writing, Short Fiction, an award that recognizes the best among all UT System institutions. Winning the award, Tran said, is "a testament to the outstanding faculty we have in the College of Liberal Arts here at UTA." Tran is the third UTA undergraduate student to be honored in this annual competition. READ MORE

Commencement 2017

Nearly 5,600 students are scheduled to participate in commencement ceremonies May 11-13 at UTA’s College Park Center, representing a projected 8 percent increase in degree conferrals over the 5,168 who graduated in Spring 2016. "UTA graduation figures continue to fuel the North Texas workforce," said state Sen. Jane Nelson, R-Flower Mound, a UTA alumna and Senate Finance Chair. "These graduates will quickly find jobs across North Texas and our state – making significant economic contributions for our region and beyond." Patryk Babiracki

Patryk Babiracki, an associate professor of history at UTA, was awarded a Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Babiracki's work focuses on the history of the International Trade Fair in PoznaƄ, a key city in Western Poland, during the Cold War. READ MORE

Broadway

Dené Hill ('06), an award-winning international opera singer, was cast as the lead role in the first ever performance of Sister Act at The Theater Solaire. Hill earned her Bachelor of Music from UTA in 2006. READ MORE

Gandy scholars

Gandy scholars personally thanked Shirlee ('70) and Taylor Gandy, who endowed several first-generation scholarships for UTA students, at a special luncheon held in the Gandys' honor. "This scholarship opened so many doors for me and motivates me to do my best," said Tiara Williams, a senior visual communications major and Gandy scholar. SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIPS

Alumni and Friends at UTA Baseball | Head out to the ballpark with your UTA friends and enjoy a night of baseball and Cracker Jacks!
