DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI RECOGNIZED
UTA celebrated the 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award honorees last week for their professional and civic achievements, community engagement, and support for the University. Alumni recognized were Shahrzad Amirani (’89, ’93), Jacob Monty (’91), Michael B. Ray (’76, ’78, ’81), and Wendy A. Okolo (’10, ’15), the latter of whom received the Distinguished Recent Graduate Award. Additionally, state Sen. Kelly Hancock, state Rep. Chris Turner, and Arlington Mayor W. SAMANTHA POWER TO SPEAK TUESDAY
Hear former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power discuss “The State of the World: Challenges and Opportunities” at the next Maverick Speakers Series event at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Texas Hall. MUJER LEGENDARIA AWARD
Elizabeth Couch (second from left), UTA assistant director of media relations, was named one of four North Texas recipients of the Mujer Legendaria de Ford award. Mujeres Legendarias, or legendary women, is a national program honoring Hispanic women who improve their communities by embodying the four pillars of the Ford brand: quality, safe innovation, smart innovation, and sustainability.
