Although not all students are guaranteed financial aid, several options are available through the University and the Department of Linguistics & TESOL.
Fellowships, Scholarships, & Loans (non-Departmental)Check out the Graduate School's Financing Your Education page. Fellowships and Assistantships (LING & TESOL Department)New PhD Students (Academic Year 2012-2013)Enhanced Graduate Teaching Assistantship and Doctoral Teaching Fellowship packages are available on a competitive basis to students beginning their first semester of study in UT Arlington doctoral or BA-to PhD programs. These five-year packages may consist of some combination of Enhanced Graduate Teaching Assistantships (EGTAs) with full tuition fellowships and grant-funded research assistantships that may include tuition coverage. Requirements include 50% graduate teaching assistantship, full-time enrollment, and unconditional admission. Read the full enhanced gta selection criteria (pdf) (Note this award will cover fall and spring semesters for 9 hours (3 courses) of work each term, a full-time courseload.) Applicants should submit their materials by January 27, 2012, for fullest consideration for admission and this funding program. Continuing StudentsIf you are currently enrolled in an MA or PhD program in the Department of Linguistics & TESOL and will be continuing in that same program next academic year (2012-2013), you can apply for funding using the application form distributed on the listserv. (That application should not be used for students enrolling in a new program for AY2012-2013.) Assistantships are generally awarded to Doctoral students only. GTAs teach primarily undergraduate linguistics classes. GRAs are assigned to assist a particular faculty member for a set number of hours per week.
