what is mediation?
Mediation is an Alternative Dispute Resolution process provided to aid University of Texas at Arlington students in dealing with interpersonal disputes with other individuals and student organizations. Disputes may come in the form of roommate conflicts, arguments with friends, disagreements with significant partners/spouses, and difficult interactions within classes or campus organization. Mediation often allows students to handle a conflict before it escalates, permanently damages the relationship, impacts academic performance or becomes a legal issue.
UT Arlington faculty and staff who are credentialed as mediators in the state of Texas can assist students in reconsiliation, reaching understanding or creating an agreement/settlement that is acceptable to everyone involved in the dispute.
Mediation Services is open to all UT Arlington students at no cost and can help at any point in the process of resolving a dispute.
Please contact Mediation Services within the Office of Community Standards via phone (817) 272-3108, email firstname.lastname@example.org or by visiting the office within the E.H. Hereford University Center on the Lower Level - Suite B170 with questions or to request mediation.
