OPT Employment Information Reporting


OPT Reporting Requirements

While on OPT, students must report the following to OIE within 10 days of any change:
  1. Physical Presence Address and Preferred Phone Number:

    This should be done through the MyMav system, please see details at click here. Keep your account current so that you can update any change in address. If you forget your password, please contact the Help desk at 817-272-2208 or helpdesk@uta.edu

  2. Employment:

    Upon beginning Post Completion OPT employment, report employer information at OPT Employment Information Reporting page.
    • Employer name.
    • Employer address.
    • Any interruption of employment must be reported at: OPT Employment Information Reporting page.
  3. For 24 month OPT extension:

    Students on 24 month OPT extension must make a validation report to the OIE every 6 months starting from the date the 24 month OPT extension begins and ending when the student's F-1 status ends, the student changes education levels at the same school, the student transfers to another school, or the 24 month OPT extension ends, whichever is first.

    Validation includes the following information:
    • Student's name and address.
    • Employer name and address.
    • Any interruption of employment must be reported at: OPT Employment Information Reporting page.
  4. Validation must be received by OIE within 10 business days of each reporting date.

  5. Unemployment periods:

    During Post-Completion OPT (12 month or 24 month Extension), F-1 status is dependent upon employment.

    Students may not accrue an aggregate of more than 90 days of unemployment during any Post-Completion OPT carried out under the initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

    Students granted 24 month OPT extension may not accrue an aggregate of more than 120 days of unemployment during the total 29 month OPT period.
