Summer Movie Series 2012

 

UT Arlington presents a free outdoor movie every Thursday at 9 p.m. from June 7 to August 2 behind the Maverick Activities Center (500 W. Nedderman Dr.).  Students, faculty/staff, alumni and community members are welcomed.  Free admission, free popcorn, soft drinks and concessions for sale. Lawn seating; bring a blanket or chair.  Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The movie titles listed are pending producer approval and are subject to change; check our webpage often for the most current information.

In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about the hormonal teens who launched a comedy legend.

THE HUNGER GAMES

In a not-too-distant future, North America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.

When the band of brothers realize they have been betrayed by one of their own, they conspire to use the book’s insider information to turn the table and teach the woman a lesson of their own.

With a rag-tag crew at his side, and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. It’s a quest that takes our heroes from the shores of exotic Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London. Along the way they battle a diabolical queen and team up with a haplessly smitten young scientist, but never lose sight of what a pirate loves best: adventure.
