More peaks than valleys
With a few exceptions, enrollment has climbed steadily since 1959

In its first year as a four-year university, Arlington State College (now UTA) had 6,528 students.
 
1963
Cars filled campus parking lots as enrollment reached 10,025, surpassing the 10,000 mark for the first time.

Enrollment exceeded 15,000 for the first time as 15,434 students attended classes and enjoyed campus life.
 
1980
Waiting in lines became commonplace as enrollment topped the 20,000 milestone with 20,166 students.

1991
UTA's sprawling campus attracted a record 25,135 students, making the University the fifth largest in Texas.

Enrollment dipped to a 20-year low of 18,662 but has since increased for 12 consecutive semesters, including summer sessions.
 
2002
Arlington Hall and other campus housing helped enrollment climb to 23,821. The 2,641-student increase was the most of any four-year university in Texas.
