Dear students,

In challenging times, the Maverick community steps up -- always.

We recognize many of you are facing extraordinary circumstances and unforeseen educational and economic challenges. Through the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, better known as the CARES Act, UTA is able to provide additional financial assistance to many of our students in need. We are hoping to help more than 12,000 students through this federal program.

UTA plans to provide UTA CARES Act Emergency Grants of $1,000 for full-time students and $500 for part-time students who meet federal eligibility criteria. You can apply for this grant by logging into your MyMav account and clicking the CARES Act Emergency Grant tile, located on the UTA student homepage.

To be considered, you must be eligible for financial aid, have a demonstrated financial need and have filled out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, better known as a FAFSA.

  • To be eligible for spring 2020 funds, you must have filled out a 2019-2020 FAFSA.
  • For summer 2020 and fall 2020 funds, you must have filled out a 2020-2021 FAFSA.
  • If you are eligible to file a FAFSA but have not yet filed and need assistance, please visit studentaid.gov.

Unfortunately, federal guidelines prevent us from offering our UTA CARES Act Emergency Grants to all of our students. Please know that all of our students may apply for assistance through UTA’s Emergency Assistance Fund.

UTA maintains an unwavering commitment to meet the needs of our students. It's our goal that the amount of funds awarded to each student is meaningful and that we will award a maximum number of students.

Please visit our FAQ site for more information.

Sincerely,

Troy Johnson Vice President, Enrollment Management
