Law enforcement exercises on campus

Law enforcement personnel, teenagers, and young adults will conduct various real-life crime scenarios and role-playing exercises on campus this week as part of a program aimed at youth interested in careers in law enforcement. More than 500 law enforcement officers and youth will be on campus Thursday-Sunday, July 18-21, for the Texas Law Enforcement Explorer Advisors Association 2019 State Explorer Competition. Matthew Walsh, an associate professor of biology, was named a recipient of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers by President Donald Trump. Read more.

Interdisciplinary grants

UTA Planetarium celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing with an all-day event hosted inside and outside the planetarium.

Championship boxing

UTA faculty and staff can get $15 tickets to watch lightweight boxing champions Maurice Hooker and Jose Ramirez compete for the world super lightweight title at the Matchroom Championships on Saturday, July 27, at College Park Center. Tickets are limited to four per person.

Also fighting are Murat Gassiev vs. Joey Gawejko for the world heavyweight title. Austin Williams will compete in the middleweight contest with a yet unnamed opponent.

Maverick Experience

Be prepared to share the Maverick spirit with the estimated 300 prospective students and their families who will be on campus Wednesday, July 24, for the Maverick Experience, one of UTA's largest recruitment events.

Personal hygiene drive

The Center for African American Studies (CAAS) and the Alliance for Children, a non-profit adoption agency, are collecting personal hygiene items through Friday, Aug. 2. Read more.
