Common at Maverick Speakers Series Feb. 11

Grammy award-winning artist and activist Common is the next guest for the Maverick Speakers Series Tuesday, Feb. 11, at College Park Center.

The American hip-hop recording artist, actor, film producer, poet, and activist from Chicago is known for his roles in films and television and his lasting influence on hip-hop culture.

Common was nominated for an Oscar, a Grammy, and an NAACP Image Award for his song "Stand Up For Something," which he co-wrote with Diane Warren. He won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor for his role in the film Selma.

Host table at Activity Fair

UTA departments, registered student groups, and community agencies can host an information table at the Activity Fair Day on Wednesday, Jan. 29. Space is limited.

Canvas, Ally training

Sign up for Canvas workshops, which start Wednesday, Jan. 15. Find online training for Ally, which helps faculty with accessibility, formats, and more.

Open textbook workshops

Faculty should attend one of three open textbook workshops this month to learn about the program that reduces student costs and helps faculty customize courses. The first one is Friday, Jan. 17.

UTA CARES Grant Program

The deadline for the UTA CARES Grant Program has been extended to Wednesday, Feb. 5. The program supports educators interested in transitioning to open educational resources.

I-9 compliance

The Office of Human Resources offers presentations on the I-9 process, legal requirements, UTA procedures, and hiring best practices related to I-9 verification. Send a request to hrdocs@uta.edu.
