Better osteoporosis treatment research

A new multisite study led by UTA researchers details a series of biomarkers in the blood—and a screening to detect them—that could lead to better diagnoses and treatments for osteoporosis.

Experts from UTA’s Bone-Muscle Research Center and the Shimadzu Center for Advanced Analytical Chemistry, along with colleagues at three other major universities, authored the study, which was published in January in the journal Nature Communications Biology.

UTA tops in graduating African Americans

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram interviewed Jason Shelton, director of UTA’s Center for African American Studies, about UTA graduating more African American undergraduate and master’s students than any other university in the state.

Shelton said the accomplishment could help encourage more students of color to attend college and achieve a degree. The University ranked 17th nationally on a list released by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education Magazine.
