Virtual reading class connecting future teachers with students

John Romig, assistant professor of special education, arranged for his students and children with disabilities to benefit from an online reading program.

He had students who needed practice teaching reading skills. Parent of elementary school kids, especially those with disabilities, needed learning activities at home. The result was a 30-minute virtual reading program twice a week.

“While social distancing may ultimately impact all of us, the negative effect may be greater for older adults who are already at risk for social isolation,” Fields said.
