Building a better mobile experience for users

Ming Li, assistant professor of computer science and engineering, is working to improve the user experience for people using phones and tablets to stream movies and use apps.

Dr. Li hopes to develop a framework for wireless carriers and internet providers to incorporate data obtained through context-aware sensing that factors in user location, the type of applications being accessed, and even a user’s emotional state. The data would allow companies to make adjustments to optimize the user experience.

Li received a five-year, $502,170 grant from the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development program, known as CAREER, for her research.

flexible summer hours

Flexible hours available

The popular flexible summer hours program runs Monday, June 1–Friday, Aug. 7. Participating employees work a compressed week of four 10-hour days with one day off during the work week.

Managers must give written approval and employees must select "Compressed Workweek" on the Flexible Work Arrangement Agreement form (HR-E-F10). A manager-approved copy must be submitted to Payroll Services at payroll@uta.edu before employees can begin the program. Schedules for non-exempt employees must include a minimum 30-minute lunch break.

If activities around returning to campus require additional focus and attention, any approved requests for this program may be ended sooner than what was originally requested.
