COVID-19 test results in minutes

Seong Jin Koh, professor of materials science and engineering, is developing a $5 portable device that can deliver COVID-19 testing results on-site in about 10 minutes. His research is supported by a National Science Foundation RAPID grant to develop the device, which will be about the size of a person’s thumb.

Mavericks celebrate Juneteenth

UTA celebrated Juneteenth with an online discussion, trivia, and a painting session to make the Juneteenth flag. The event commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of the federal order ending slavery in the United States reached enslaved people in Galveston, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Race, health disparities discussion
