Maverick Activities Center

The MAC is back starting Monday

The Maverick Activities Center (MAC) and other departmental facilities are reopening for use by students and employees.

The MAC will reopen Monday, Aug. 17. The facility’s hours of operation will be 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday and noon-8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Hours will be reassessed on an ongoing basis and adjusted when necessary.

Request face masks for departments, labs

Masks for individuals are available at the University Center Information Desk and the Central Library.

Faculty members do not need to request masks for classrooms. Disposable masks will be available in classrooms for faculty members to give to students who arrive without one.

Complete the face mask request form for

  • Departments and research groups.
  • Department guests. Note in the comments section that you need disposable masks for visitors.
  • Face shields and clear masks for faculty. Note in the comments section that you need shields and clear masks. If wearing a face shield, also wear a face mask.

The Office of Facilities Management has COVID-19 signage approved by the University that you can print on your own.

New rules for residence halls

Students returning to University housing for the fall 2020 semester should expect some changes to their housing, dining, and academic experience because of the coronavirus.

Nuclear testing and evolution

Matthew Walsh, an associate professor of biology, could soon uncover the evolutionary effects of nuclear testing by resurrecting decades-old crustaceans.

Digital signature

Adobe Sign uses e-signatures to replace handwritten signatures, paper workflows, and traditional routing procedures. Register for a training session on Tuesday, Aug. 18, or Friday, Sept. 4.

Move MavSpace content

Transfer your MavSpace content to an alternative service, such as OneDrive, by Monday, Aug. 17. MavSpace will no longer be available after 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31. Read more about the change.

Call Merge

Call Merge is coming soon to Microsoft Teams. This feature allows users to combine two simultaneous calls with one or more users into a single call.

I-9 verification

New employees and rehires with a break of longer than one year need to complete I-9 verification to begin working at UTA.

Volunteer for Move-in Days

There are two options for helping with Move-in Days for students moving into residence halls and on-campus apartments. Both include safety measures and do not include handling residents' belongings.

Apartment and Residence Life requests assistance Friday-Monday, Aug. 21-24. Volunteers will help with the check-in processes and logistics (greeting, providing directions) in the residence halls and apartments. The necessary protective wear will be provided. Register for two-hour shifts by noon Thursday, Aug. 20. For details, email Delcenia Collins at delcenia@uta.edu.

The Parent and Family Center needs volunteers to distribute swag and membership packets. Register to help Saturday-Sunday, Aug. 22-23. Questions? Email Barbara Crow at bccrow@uta.edu.

Work-study for fall

The fall work-study program will begin Sunday, Aug. 16, to assist departments and students in securing work-study jobs as quickly as possible.

Departments must submit the applicable eForm with the work-study eligibility form included as an attachment. The eForm will route for both departmental and budget approval prior to Human Resources processing.

For the semi-monthly pay period of Aug. 16-31, the eForm must be entered and approved by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28.

Student employment fair

Access the virtual services for faculty and staff offered by the Lockheed Martin Career Development Center. The Virtual Student Employment Job Fair is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24.

Activity Fair Days

Represent your department at Activity Fair Days 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 2, 9, and 16. The three-day event includes fewer tables for proper social distancing. Register your department.

Procurement year-end requisition deadline

The Procurement Office reports that all requisitions, including MAV eSHOP purchases, must be fully approved in UTShare by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14.

Requisitions must be submitted, fully approved, and successfully budget-checked in UTShare. This includes all applicable approvals required, including the Office of Information Technology, Web Accessibility, and Information Security.

Requisition sourcing will be turned off Friday, Aug. 14, including MAV eSHOP requisitions, in order to allow time for order processing and payments prior to year-end closing.

Requisitions received after the close of business on Aug. 14 will be canceled in UTShare and can be re-entered after Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Network maintenance set

Faculty, staff, and students may experience intermittent access to the UTA network during scheduled maintenance 2-7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16. Contact the IT Help Desk for any questions.

City transportation survey

Complete an online survey and volunteer for a one-hour virtual focus group for a new transportation pilot program, Arlington RAPID. Respond by Friday, Aug. 14.
