Veterans Day

UTA honors veterans

Faculty and staff members who are veterans were thanked this morning at a drive-thru event as part of the University's Recognition of Military Service, held in conjunction with Veterans Day, today, Wednesday, Nov. 11.

The events include an online panel for veterans and military-connected students Thursday, Nov. 12, and an induction ceremony for the SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society Thursday, Nov. 19.

Ali Abolmaali

Abolmaali named fellow

Ali Abolmaali is the sixth UTA engineering professor named a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is a professor and chair of civil engineering in the College of Engineering.

Dr. Abolmaali, who joined UTA in 2001, is an internationally recognized authority on computational mechanics, the finite element method, and structural concrete pipes reinforced by synthetic fiber.

Library material delivery

As of Monday, Nov. 16, faculty-requested library materials can be picked up at the Central Library or shipped to faculty members’ residences. On-campus delivery will be suspended until the spring semester.

Inclusive Teaching Strategies

Faculty can participate in Inclusive Teaching Strategies 1-2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, for a Center for Research on Teaching and Learning Excellence workshop to openly address issues of diversity and equity in teaching.

Maverick Wiki requires VPN

Maverick Wiki will be unavailable 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. Afterward, Pulse Secure VPN and Duo multifactor authentication will be required. Read more details.

Policy changes

CO-PD-PR10 Key and Lock Control—Departmental procedures and the fee schedule for lost, missing, unreturned keys, and re-keying were updated.

HR-B-PO1 Employee Tuition Assistance Plan Policy and HR-B-PR1 Employee Tuition Assistance Plan Procedure—The policies were amended to permit reimbursement for passing grades when the course is a pass/fail course. The policies also were updated to permit reimbursement for online courses. However, this does not apply to online courses that are part of an academic online program with one of our academic online providers (Academic Partnerships).
