Carter Tiernan

Outstanding teaching award

Carter Tiernan received the Outstanding Teaching Award from the American Society for Engineering Education, Gulf Southwest Region. The assistant dean for the College of Engineering is an associate professor of instruction of computer science and engineering.

Sherri Kermanshachi

Young faculty award

Sharareh “Sherri” Kermanshachi has been awarded the 2020 Outstanding Young Faculty Award from the American Society for Engineering Education, Gulf Southwest Region. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Basketball season openers Wednesday

The women's and men's teams play Wednesday, Nov. 25, at College Park Center, which has comprehensive COVID protocols. All seating will be in pods of two, with fans limited to approximately 500.

The Lady Mavericks start the season against Texas A&M Commerce at 11 a.m. at College Park Center and on ESPN+. The women's team was picked to finish first in the Sun Belt Conference's West Division by head coaches.

The Maverick men's opening against Oklahoma State at 3 p.m. at College Park Center will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Early voting for run-offs at MAC

The Maverick Activities Center will be an early voting polling place for the Dec. 8 joint run-off elections.

  • Closed Thursday-Friday, Nov. 26-27, Thanksgiving Holiday
  • 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28
  • 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29
  • 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday-Friday, Dec. 1-4
