UTA joins partnership dedicated to improving student outcomes

UT Arlington is joining the Tarrant To & Through Partnership, a communitywide collaborative effort focused on ensuring that more Tarrant County students obtain postsecondary credentials and have the training and skills to thrive in today’s workforce.

Kamisetty R. “K.R.” Rao

In Memoriam: Kamisetty “K.R.” Rao

Electrical engineering Professor Kamisetty R. “K.R.” Rao, one of the College’s longest-serving faculty members, passed away Jan. 15 in Arlington after a short illness. He was 89.

Details on a memorial service have not yet been announced.

Dr. Rao joined the College of Engineering in 1966. He was world-renowned for his research in mathematical computer techniques and was honored as a Fellow of IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, in 2000.

Doug Kuykendall

In Memoriam: Doug Kuykendall

Douglas Kuykendall, a former assistant vice president and director of Campus Recreation who established numerous long-standing campus traditions, programs, and facilities, died on Jan. 18 at 71 years old.

A UTA graduate, he began his 40-year career at UTA in 1973 and retired as an assistant vice president for Student Affairs. He created traditions such as the Bed Races and Oozeball and was instrumental in the building of the Maverick Activities Center.

Suicide prevention class

QPR for Suicide Prevention classes for faculty and staff are at 1-3 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 19, March 12, and April 16. Pick a date and register to learn more about the warning signs and how to intervene.

Dietitian available to help

Maverick Dining's full-time registered dietitian offers free nutrition counseling and can help with a variety of general healthy eating or nutrition concerns.

Food Pantry needs

The UTA/Tri-C Food Pantry needs items such as shelf-stable cow's milk and sugar in 2- or 4-pound bags. To donate, call 817-933-6520.
